The Feather
River Rail Society is home to one of the largest fleets of
preserved, historic locomotives in North America.
Locomotives ranging in size from 44 ton switching locomotives to
a 200 ton example of the largest diesel locomotive ever built,
the Western Pacific Railroad Museum has over 40 locomotives in
their collection. That's more than most shortline
railroads!
We have a
little something for everyone's interests. Small switching
locomotives, streamlined passenger and freight locomotives, and
large road locomotives can be found at the Western Pacific
Railroad Museum. Some are operational, some are display
pieces, and many are under restoration to operating condition.
And of course, we have a steam locomotive, WP #165, currently
under restoration.
