CALIFORNIA STATE RAILROAD MUSEUM , 111 "I" Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, phone (916) 445-7387. Known holdings: SW1 diesel 402, boxcar 2350, flatcar 32. The library also has photos and other materials. The CSRM is undoubtedly one of the world's great railroad museums, and is a must-see for any railfan visiting Sacramento. The collection includes many beautifully restored locomotives from the pioneer days of 19th century West Coast railroading. Steam or diesel train rides are also available on certain days. The museum is located adjacent to historic Old Sacramento, with other museums, restored 19th century buildings, riverboats, and interesting shops. The CSRM has a nicely done home page. It is filled with great photos of the museum's equipment, as well as schedules, planned events, and other useful information.

The museum repainted the locomotive for the 1999 Railfair. The SW-1 still sees
limited freight service on the museum's Sacramento Southern, a common carrier with one shipper.
