As a special opportunity for railfans, we will offer an extra-fare event after the normal museum closing of a “Golden Hour Photo Shoot Session”. After the day’s festivities, from 5:30 to 8 PM (sunset is at 6:30 PM), we will display four WP locomotives and allow visitors to take photographs in the late-afternoon/early-evening light. We plan to stage 0-6-0 steam locomotive WP 165, WP 1503, WP 501 and WP 608 for additional unique photo opportunities.

This event will be limited to 35 people so everyone can participate and frame their shots without other fans being in the photo.

The extra-fare for this event is $50 in advance at our online store before 11:59 PM Friday September 27th, or $55 at the museum store on Saturday, 9/28, if not sold out. Advance purchasers must bring their receipt to the museum store on the event day to get their wristbands.

Join us at the WPRM...

There are many railroad museums all over the United States and Canada. Some are elaborate affairs with polished brass, carpet and theater lighting. Ours is a little different. The Western Pacific Railroad Museum may look more like your average rail yard and that's for good reason. We want it that way. While the fancier museums are very enjoyable and highly recommended to visit, the Feather River Rail Society, operators of the Western Pacific Railroad Museum, invites our guests to experience railroading in a "Hands-on" environment.

We always welcome new members to our society. Our volunteers operate trains every weekend between Memorial Day and Labor Day. We also run our Pumpkin Express in October, Santa Trains in December and other special events. If you have always wanted to have a taste of "working on the railroad", then this is your chance. Please consider joining the society and becoming a member of the "Willing People" and volunteer in our Operating Department, Mechanical Department or many other opportunities at the museum!
