You Can Operate A Steam Locomotive!

Reservations for 1 hour Run-A-Locomotive sessions with Western Pacific 0-6-0 165 are now available. As with our diesel RAL sessions, you will get lessons in operation then get your chance at running the locomotive yourself under the guidance from our crew.

The price per hour is $600 and includes admission to the Western Pacific Railroad Museum. A deposit of $80 is required at time of reservation. (see notes)

Times are limited and slots will go fast.

Notes:

  • Only one (1) RAL guest can be in the cab at a time. RAL time can be shared but other participants cannot ride along.
  • Operations are weather and equipment permitting. If there is an issue with the time and date of your reservation, the FRRS will contact you to make other arrangements.
  • No ½ hour sessions with steam RAL.
  • All RALs are dependent on weather, availability of locomotive equipment and instructors. Please check with our museum prior to your visit.
  • All reservations require an $80 deposit, payable when reservation is placed. This deposit in non-refundable unless cancellation is caused by weather, mechanical issues resulting in equipment being unavailable or other unforeseen event at FRRS’ discretion. Being late and missing your reservation time will resort in forfeiture of deposit.

WP 165 Out-of-service
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the federally mandated testing on steam engine WP 165 has been postponed. Until such time as we can reschedule those tests, the engine must remain out-of-service. We apologize for any inconvenience.
