Historic Railroad Motorcars at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum
Sunday, May 14, 2023 - 10 AM to 5 PM

The West Coast Railroaders Group will be bringing their historic railroad motorcars and a handcar to the Western Pacific Railroad Museum on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

Museum guests will get the opportunity to take a ride on these fascinating cars, which were used for track maintenance on the railroads for most of the 20th century. Come join us for this rare opportunity.

Gates open at 10 AM. Rides operate between 11 AM and 1 PM, then 2 PM to 4 PM. Gates close at 5 PM.

Rides are FREE with regular museum admission.

Motorcars confirmed to be attending:

  • WCRG 1945 - a former Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway car. Fairmont ST2 model built in 1945.
  • WCRG 574 - a former Seaboard Coast Line Railway car. Fairmont M19 model built in the 1950's.
  • Western Pacific Fairmont M19AA model, built in 1956 and shipped to Oakland, CA. Attached are a few photos and history card for that car .
  • ATSF Fairmont M19D model. Built in the early 1940's. M1919-AA-2 history card
  • Also a classic handcar will be operating. 5/9/23 Update: The expected handcar was coming from near Oroville and with Highway 70 being closed, it will not be at the museum.
