UP 25283
Built 8-52 as UP 3983 by UP in it's Omaha Shops, using welded steel under frames from International Car, and body components from Youngstown Steel Door Co. (which is why there is a small plate on each side of the car with a "Y" on it);
UP class CA-5; renumbered 6-59 to 25283; never upgraded for pool service. Painted silver and renumbered UP 903005MW 7-84 and placed in MofW service (briefly renumbered WPMW 903005 late 7-84) and assigned to the Portola outfit train; donated to FRRS in 1985 (known as the "Silver Palace"); Lt. wt. 53,200 lbs; length 40' 5 1/4" over coupler pulling faces; interior length 30' 1 3/8"; repainted yellow and renumbered back to 25283 by FRRS in 2001.
