Noted railroad photographer and Western Pacific fan Peter Arnold has produced a series of compact discs each featuring high resolution digital images of various Western Pacific equipment subjects. RTR 60' PS Auto Parts Box, WP #3707 & 3716
In the 1960's, Ford Motor Company, Pullman Standard and Santa Fe pooled their resources to develop a standard boxcar to meet the transportation needs of automobile manufacturers in the United States. Delivered in 1965, the Pullman Standard auto parts boxcar is the most prolific example of this type of freight car. It ultimately changed the face of automobile manufacturing and rail transportation.

Diesel Locomotives of the Western Pacific
This book is not a reprint of author Strapac's1980 release Western Pacific's Diesel Years, although it does re-use many older one-of-a-kind photos. Diesel Locomotives of the Western Pacific focuses on the diesel locomotive fleet of the WP, with less emphasis on the subsidiary railroads, pool power, RDCs, etc. This 208-page hardcover book contains over 410 photos and has a suggested retail price of $59.95. Book is scheduled to be in retailer's hands in mid to late March 2008. Orders can be placed with the WPRM Gift Shop and FRRS members will receive a 10% discount.

Micro-Trains newest N scale caboose model is based on the Southern Pacific version of the C-50-9 Caboose built by International Car Company (PACCAR) in 1980. It is included here due to its nearly identical appearance to the Western Pacific 481 series cabooses which were numbered from 481 to 486 and also bult in 1980.

RTR 2600 cu. ft. GATC Airslide hopper car
The all-new Athearn model is of a single-bay, 2,600 cubic foot car. This initial release is of what is typically referred to as an “early” version Airslide®, the prototype having been built from 1955 to 1965, before major design changes were implemented. Operationally, they could be found serving flour mills, sugar refineries, bakeries, and plastic plants, among other industries.

Mainline Freight is now selling HO scale models of the WP's very unique 60' 70-ton class F-181 flat car. The production run is offered in 6 different road numbers starting with car 13131. The models are built-up, painted and lettered and are less trucks and couplers. They are available exclusively through Bruce's Train Shop in Sacramento, CA.
