California Zephyr Dining Car "Silver Plate" (27 of 40)

Another view of the cleaned dining room.  When the Silver Plate was retired following the discontinuance of the California Zephyr in 1970, the Sierra Railroad used the car for a short time on its "Supper Chief" dinner trains.  Following the transfer to Railtown 1897 State Park at the old Sierra Jamestown Roundhouse and yards, it was used by California State Railroad Museum volunteers as a meeting room.  Unfortunately, the etched glass panels so many remember from the CZ dining cars were removed by unknown persons years ago while the car was in Jamestown.
