I cannot stress enough how much help we need. The museum is going to be showcased the week before RR Days by a PBS "Tracks Ahead" Film Crew.

Now if they would just get all of their images sharper our eye strain would be less.....but then they would probably start charging by the month.  Grin

That is SUCH a cool shot.  Timeless.  If you were to age the phot and make it black and white, it could have been taken 50 years ago.

Thanks for the compliment Tom...

Yeah, if It was sepia toned b&w you could put it next to the picture of Rod's father, and they'd both fit each other...

Lets hope 917 (and all the other rolling stock) is still here 50 years from now...

You just gave me an idea for my next video picture show (similar to the demo disk I gave you)...

I have some other photos of 917, and I could do one in sepia tones, then do a slow crossfade to a color shot...it could be a powerful visual transition, and my video editing software give me a lot of options, and I can also manipulate images with other software before I dump it into my video editor...

As you've seen, I try to make good use of the still & video images I create up at Portola...I can't sing, play guitar, draw a picture, but producing video disks is something I've devoted years of learning and experience...and you can't produce diddly unless your boot are on the ground with camera's in hand...

Photobucket now allows folks to upload videos, which for me takes a long time on slow dial up, but is still worth playing with...

Ah...I meant to get back to you earlier...it was google a few days ago...

I was at a CDF fire incident site looking at the Costantia Complex fire south of Doyle, and I figured while I was there I might as well wander over to the west to Portola...

The picture might be in higher resolution elsewhere (if I went to a premium satellite image page and paid a fee)...

I wonder if Don would be willing to fly overhead with a photographer on board...???

We used to open the left window all the way up on a Cessna 172 for aero photo missions in the Napa Valley...by taking the screw out of the "prop up bracket" on the pilots window, it can be opened up all the way, and the air pressure differential when flying would keep it open so great photos could be possible (instead of trying to shot a picture through the glass)...Super Cub's are also great photo planes...

With less traffic on the FR sub, it's good to see 2 trains in the UP yard...
