Well… This is un-Canny

Less than a month after the long spout oil can (see previous post) had arrived at the museum, another oil can was won on ebay and has been delivered.

This one is different in that it has a short spout and octagonal fill cap. Listed as a Kerosene Oil Pour Can made by Eagle, it is a 1 gal. capacity, 9" tall and 6.5” diameter. While not cosmetically perfect, it’s very solid, dent free, with no rust holes. It also has a distinctive metal plate on the side with W.P.R.R. initials, which Rod confirmed as being early steam vintage (see 2nd photo).

Ebay item number was 320546430149, closing on 6-17 with a winning bid of 36.15 plus shipping.

And now 10 days later, another can which looks identical is also on ebay, closing on the 27th. This one is listed as a signal oil can, and appears to be in fantastic condition and is clean throughout. I’ll bid on this one also for Donation, but would ask that I not be competing with other members.

Third time's a charm

The third oil/kerosene can has been secured and is being shipped direct to the museum from IA.
It appears to be identical to #2, but is cosmetically superior. Note the WPRR plate.

Perhaps this one should be reserved for display ?

Ebay item number was 110550550570, closing on 6-27 with a winning bid of $52.00 plus shipping.

Very nice Bob. If you get those, they will make a nice addition to the collection as did the long spout can you gave to the steam dept. That can has been secured in our lock box for future use.
Thanks again---Charlie
